On the 29th of April the York Student Think Tank held a General Election debate featuring representatives from Labour, Liberal Democrats, Conservatives, UKIP and TUSC.
The debate was excellently chaired by the Universities Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr Jane Grenville and featured a lively discussion on the key topics of the election.
The society presented three questions to the panellists. Firstly, Are you the party of the NHS?, What should Britain’s role be on the global stage? and Are Zero Hour contracts and unpaid internships exploitation or opportunities for students?
The debate the went on the feature a number of questions from the floor, ranging from how we should respond to the Mediterranean migrant boat crisis, to how the parties will approach deficit reduction.
